21st Sunday Ordinary Time - Year B

Decide Today

After Moses died, his aide Joshua led the Israelites into Palestine. Shortly before the end of his career he called them together in a narrow valley. Jesus would later convert a Samaritan woman here. Joshua challenged them to make a renewal of their contract with God. This would become an annual ceremony. We still do this on Easter.

Decide today whom you will serve

Be subordinate to one another

You have the words of everlasting life
they shall become two in one flesh

Do You Also Want To Leave?

When we hear Jesus' invitation to "eat his flesh" we immediately think of holy communion. His contemporaries didn't have this luxury. The idea only meant one thing to many of them: Cannibalism.
The reaction was swift. People abandoned Jesus in droves. No one bothered to ask for an explanation. The apostles couldn't comprehend, but stayed. What would you have done?
